Weekly in-class participation in group discussions is expected

Participation in weekly class discussions through ZOOM is expected of all students.

This class will operate largely as a flipped class, meaning that all videos on a particular topic are viewed prior to class. PDFs of slides associated with videos are downloadable to follow along with the video and for you to take notes (e.g., using Noteability, PDF Element, PDF Expert).

Only the first 15-20 minutes of online class time will be spent reviewing reviewing video materials for the two topics assigned each week. ZOOM polling will be used to understand the degree to which students understood the materials. The remainder of the class will be spent in activities and student discussions on topics and papers related to that week's topics, often in break-out rooms in ZOOM, with the instructor helping to coordinate discussions. Student will report back to the group. Breakout room time will also be used to give groups time to work on group papers and problem sets.
